What Is This Campaign?

Jesus taught us to pray, “Deliver us from evil.” The National Council of Churches (NCC) invites people of faith across the U.S. to unite in daily prayer during Lent. Representing 37 member denominations and over 30 million Christians, this campaign extends the #WeWillNotBeSilent initiative into a collective spiritual act.

This movement recognizes that challenges facing our communities require spiritual intervention, not just strategy. “Deliver us from evil is a communal cry,” said Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, NCC President and General Secretary.

“Jesus did not pray deliver me from evil. He prayed deliver us from evil. We pray for parents, teachers, caregivers, hungry children, pastors under pressure, and communities under threat. None of us is safe alone.”
